Are you successful?

I recently gave a talk at The Big Day In, Darwin and in the Q&A session I was asked “Are you successful?”

My answer:

“If I measured my success by other people’s idea of ‘success’, then probably not - I’m not a millionaire, my business doesn’t employ 100’s of people; I don’t live in a mansion…and my favourite car is a Mini Moke!

But I don’t measure my success by other people’s ideas of success - I define my own version:

- I run a business doing what I love in a place I love.

- I run a business with my husband…and we are celebrating 20 years of marriage this year.

- I have time to spend with my teenage kids…and they still want to hang out with their old Mum!

- We have enough to live the life we want.

I’m a success on my own terms.

So, when you start your careers always look to define your own version of success.”
