The face of a business owner
I had the privilege of speaking to the next generation of innovators, entrepreneurs and business leaders at The Big Day In, Darwin about the “Business of Innovation” and my advice was this:
1. You don’t need business qualifications to run a business; travel, sport and life teach you the best business skills.
2. When you are ‘innovating’ you are essentially asking people to change their behaviours, mindset and attitudes - your job is to help people change, not sell them a new invention.
3. Running a business doesn’t always look like an insta feed - most days it look’s like this because t’s frustrating, hard work and often boring!
4. There is no such things as failure - just an opportunity to innovate, a lesson learnt…or a very funny story.
5. Why do the hard work of running a business? Because you get to be your own boss!
